Simeone's men also beat Bayern at home in April on their way to a second Champions League final in three years.

And the Argentine lauded Atletico's tactical discipline as they secured an incredible 15th clean sheet and 14th win in 18 home Champions League games under Simeone.

"I feel so proud to be the coach of this team," said Simeone.

"I liked everything today. We pressed high, took advantage of spaces on the counter-attack and played with intensity for 90 minutes which is very difficult to do against one of the best teams in the world.

"Tactically, the team interpreted the game fantastically.

"It was one of the best performances in my time at Atletico Madrid."

Carrasco fired home the winner 10 minutes before half-time after Jan Oblak had denied Thomas Muller with a stunning save early on with Bayern's best effort.

Atletico could even afford to see top scorer Antoine Griezmann smash a penalty off the crossbar seven minutes from time.

Griezmann has now missed four of six penalties he has taken for Atletico, including crucially in defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

However, Simeone insisted the Frenchman will remain on spot-kick duty.

"He missed a penalty like (Diego) Maradona, (Lionel) Messi, (Michel) Platini, Zico, all the best players in the world," added Simeone.

"He will keep taking them. He has incredible personality.

"He did 1000 things tonight that keep putting him amongst the best forwards in the world."

Griezmann replied with glowing words for Simeone's importance in his progression since joining from Real Sociedad just over two years ago.

"He has been very important for me because he has made me progress. I know I still have a lot to learn from him and I hope to continue like that," said the Frenchman

"It is still frustrating to miss the penalty, but it won't be the last time I miss a chance."

Defeat was Bayern's first since Carlo Ancelotti replaced Pep Guardiola in charge after a perfect eight wins from eight before the former Real coach returned to Madrid.

However, it was a familiar story for Bayern, as having been knocked out by Spanish sides for the past three seasons in the Champions League, they failed to score on Spanish soil for the fourth consecutive trip.

"Atletico showed a killer instinct tonight, and we did not," said goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

"We will have another chance to beat them in Munich."

Top spot in Group D is likely to come down to that meeting between the sides on December 6 as both won their opening games against FC Rostov and PSV Eindhoven.

And Arjen Robben insists Bayern must find away to counteract the "unpleasant" tactics used by Atletico.

"That is a big game for the group phase. Last season it was a semi-final and you could see why," said the Dutch winger.

"They have a very unpleasant team to play against.

"We started really well. The first 15, 20 minutes were really good. We were aggressive and had chances, which you have to use in a game like that.

"We have to learn from this and keep going." — AFP

The designer, who has achieved global fame with his luxury shoe brand, has named the new electrically bright shades — 'Miss Loubi', 'Altressa' and 'So Tango' — after some of his more whimsical and festive handbag and footwear designs.

'Miss Loubi' is a bright coral with a subtle pink undertone, while 'Altressa' comprises a luminous red with a hint of orange. 'So Tango' is a slightly softer, sultry orchid pink.
The new shades have been designed to encapsulate Louboutin's vision of holiday beauty with their opulent packaging and cheerful hues.

The lipstick formulas are highly pigmented and infused with luminosity for a vibrant colour, but the super matte texture provides a shine-free, non-drying finish that the brand claims lasts for hours.

Louboutin, known for his blood red stilettoes, first broke into the beauty industry in 2014 with a nail polish collection, but cemented his influence on the market last September when he released his first lipstick line. He has continued to focus on lip colours ever since, and the beauty brand now carries Velvet Matte, Sheer Voile, and Silky Satin finishes, as well as a range of 'Loubilaque' glosses.

The new Velvet Matte colours will be available from November in selected stores and on christianlouboutin.com, priced at €85, or US$90 (approximately RM380). — AFP-Relaxnews

Someone just bought a Batsuit for US$250,000

A private collector bought a batsuit worn by Christian Bale in The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises for £192,000 (RM1 million). Another bidder snagged the batpod — the heavily armed motorcycle used by Batman as he battled the Joker and Bane in two Dark Knight movies — for £312,000. And since crime doesn't pay, Bane's costume sold for £96,000.

The costume was up for sale as part of an auction organised by The Prop Store, a UK memorabilia company. The offering of more than 500 costumes, props and other pieces of movie history brought in more than £1.5 million, auctioneers said.

"We managed to get some world-record prices there, which is very exciting for us," said Stephen Lane, chief executive officer of the Prop Store. "The activity across the board was pretty unprecedented."

A TIE fighter helmet from Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope (the original 1977 film) gavelled in at £210,000, which the store says is a world record. A stunt mask worn by the Sloth character in The Goonies sold for £36,000. These prices include a 20 per cent buyer's premium (the auctioneer's cut) but don't include shipping.

In the end, about a dozen people were bidding for the batpod online, over the phone and in person. Bidding opened online earlier in the month, but bids had only gotten up to £35,000 by the morning of the auction, Lane said. It jumped to £180,000 online before the live auction opened and finished up at £260,000, before the buyer's premium took it to £312,000.

But it's probably a safe bet that an imposing caped crusader won't be ringing the doorbell to trick-or-treat anytime soon. "These don't get worn by anybody," Lane said. "They really end up in glass display cases."

About 400 bidders from 27 countries actively participated in the auction, which drew interest from investment firms in New York and Hong Kong, archivists working for corporate and private collectors, and museums, company officials said. The pieces up for grabs ranged from full costumes to ID badges, and included annotated scripts, directors' chairs, prop swords and guns.

A clapperboard — that iconic, black-and-white sign used by filmmakers to sync up audio and visuals — from Jaws went for £84,000, while one from Star Wars: Episode V — The Empire Strikes Back sold for £33,000.

One bidder made sure to snag FBI ID and badges for both Agents Mulder (£7,800) and Scully (£7,200).

Not everything from the 500-plus lot sold. A couple of hulking costumes from Alien vs Predator (2004) that had been estimated to be worth between £20,000 and £60,000 went unclaimed. They're still available, Lane said. — Bloomberg

"We are going to go all out in engaging with various countries (the European Union)," he told Malaysian media at the end of his three-day official visit here.

Najib, who is also Finance Minister, said Malaysia would also work with Indonesia to engage with European Union member countries to address the no palm oil label issue.

He said Malaysia cannot allow the countries to damage the prospect of Malaysia's golden crop in the region and hence the Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities and the Malaysian Palm Oil Council will work on this.

According to several reports, there are about 1,500 products with no palm oil label in France, Belgium and Italy.

Such labelling can be categorised as a non-trade barrier and a move to deny market access for palm oil.

The Prime Minister had also discussed the same issue with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in his bilateral meeting on Tuesday.

He had explained to her that Malaysia subscribes to sustainable development of the palm oil industry and there is no "slash and burn" policy.

He also invited German lawmakers to see it for themselves.

Najib said Merkel had assured Malaysia that Germany has no plans to impose any tax on palm oil.

"They (Germany) will also not support any practice of no palm oil label in Germany," said the Prime Minister. ― Bernama

Barack Obama to attend Shimon Peres funeral (VIDEO)

WASHINGTON, Sept 29 — US President Barack Obama will join other world leaders in attending the funeral of Israeli ex-president and Nobel Peace Prize winner Shimon Peres in Jerusalem, the White House said yesterday.

The president "will lead the US delegation to Jerusalem to participate in the funeral", the White House said.

He is to depart for Israel today and return after the ceremony tomorrow.

Obama led tributes to the elder statesman as a friend who refused to give up on the dream of peace.

Peres' commitment to Israel's security and pursuit of peace was "rooted in his own unshakeable moral foundation and unflagging optimism" the US leader said in a statement.

Obama is to join world leaders including former US president Bill Clinton, French President Francois Hollande and German President Joachim Gauck and Britain's Prince Charles in attending Peres funeral tomorrow at Jerusalem's Mount Herzl, where many Israeli dignitaries are buried.

Snowden again fails to win no-extradition pledge from Norway

OSLO, Sept 29 — A Norwegian court yesterday dismissed a fresh bid by fugitive whistleblower Edward Snowden to win assurances he would not be extradited to the US should he come to Norway to collect an award.

The Oslo appeals court said it was not competent to offer such a preemptive guarantee since Snowden had not set foot in Norway and Washington had not submitted a formal request for his extradition.

The former National Security Agency (NSA) contractor, who lives in exile in Russia, faces US charges of espionage and theft of state secrets that could land him up to 30 years in jail.

The charges followed his 2013 release to the media of the extent of the NSA's surveillance programmes.

The appeals court upheld the June ruling of a lower court to which Snowden had taken his challenge against the Norwegian justice ministry's position that no guarantees on extradition could be given before a request had been formally received.

The Norwegian branch of the PEN Club has invited Snowden to Oslo on November 18 to collect the Ossietzky prize, which celebrates "outstanding efforts for freedom of expression".

Reacting to the ruling, Snowden tweeted his dismay.

'The government of Norway is fighting to prevent presentation of a freedom of speech award. Talk about winning a battle instead of the war," he wrote.

Norway's branch of the PEN Club said it would appeal the case at the Supreme Court.

Norway was one of the countries where Snowden had sought asylum when he fled the US in 2013, but Oslo's response was that asylum seekers had to be physically present in the country to apply.

Considered a whistleblower by some and a traitor by others, Snowden won a similar Norwegian award in 2015, but was unable to collect it in person for the same reason.

Snowden has also been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, also awarded in Norway, for a third straight year.
